Work-Focused CBT for Vocational Rehabilitation & Return to Work
Structured psychological treatment for case managers, rehabilitation providers and insurers where mental health difficulties are obstructing occupational recovery.
Woodward Therapies provides evidence-based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for adults whose psychological difficulties are affecting occupational functioning, rehabilitation or return to work.
Led by a BABCP-accredited CBT psychotherapist, the pathway is designed for referrals from case managers, rehabilitation providers, insurers and other organisations requiring structured psychological treatment with clear clinical and functional goals.
Referrals may include individuals experiencing anxiety disorders, trauma/PTSD, panic, depression, health anxiety, OCD or significant avoidance where these difficulties are contributing to absence from work, reduced occupational functioning or difficulty progressing through rehabilitation.
Designed for rehabilitation pathways
Rapid assessment following referral
Defined treatment blocks with agreed review points
Evidence-based, formulation-led CBT
Clinical and occupational outcome monitoring
Concise reports for the referring case manager
Remote UK provision
Further treatment recommended only where clinically indicated
A structured clinical pathway
-
Clinical assessment, risk assessment and CBT formulation, including identification of psychological and behavioural barriers affecting function and work.
-
Collaboratively agreed clinical and functional goals, including occupational objectives where appropriate.
-
Evidence-based intervention according to the individual’s formulation. This may include graded exposure, behavioural experiments, behavioural activation, trauma-focused CBT, ERP and other disorder-specific CBT interventions.
-
Progress monitored using appropriate validated measures, potentially including PHQ-9, GAD-7, WSAS and disorder-specific measures, alongside individually agreed functional outcomes.
-
Concise communication with the referring organisation at agreed points, subject to appropriate consent and information-governance requirements. Reports can address engagement, treatment progress, outcome measures, functional progress and recommendations.
Initial treatment blocks
Treatment can be authorised in defined blocks, with clinical need and progress reviewed before further intervention is recommended. This provides referring organisations with clear review points rather than committing to open-ended treatment.
Clinical governance
The pathway is clinically led by Ben Woodward, a BABCP-accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist with experience across NHS Talking Therapies and independent practice. Initial referrals are currently delivered directly by Ben, with provider capacity being developed to support broader referral volumes.
